UT7/Mac/7600 questions

2005-01-10 by sandersm@aol.com

Two questions:

1. Must you use curves to control the UT7 inkset in an Epson 7600, if you
install PK ink and print only onto Epson PSM or PSG papers? (I know you need
curves for printing onto gloss papers with MK installed.) Or can it be
controlled with only the Epson driver sliders?

2. Can the UC PK be used with the rest of the UT7 inkset in a 7600? Will
it cause problems with print quality?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Sanders McNew.

Sanders,

I do not have a 7600 and have not tested this, but I believe you'll find the
sliders will be sufficient.

I think the UC PK may give you a better dmax on the papers you specified.
I've seen test strips from a 4000 using the UC PK, and I saw no artifacts
(and a better dmax). On my 7500, on the other hand, the mixing of the
coated and uncoated, with their different gloss characteristics, could be
detected when one saw the reflection. I think it is the difference in the
dot size that may make the difference.

Let us know how it goes. I think the combination should be great.
