Digital BW, The Print

First, a Happy New Year to all with congratulation and thanks for all 
of you who participate  in such great forum.
I am new to this forum and to B&W printing also ( just reading the 
post for the last few weeks) and this is my first post. 
I tried and fail after few attempt two weeks back to make the QTR  
software working, so before trying to install QTR again ( just did 
new installation of OS – Windows XP Pro ) I would appreciate if some 
of experience users check my understanding of installation procedure 
end correct any wrong dying.

1.After installing Epson driver do I need any modification in printer 
set up or not
2. After installing the Epson driver there is 1270 and 1270 ES (which 
I suppose is serial port). Any difference which I choose for USB 
port. 
3. QuadToneRIPSetup_2.1d.EXE , "It is an all inclusive download with 
both the print driver engine as well as the graphical front end".
So, no need for QTRguiSetup_2.1.10.EXE, right?
3. No need for loop adapter, printer can be set for "not share"
4. If I want to print only with ebony ink on EEM, Media source should 
be "media paper", what is the blending mode for L and R curve (L – 
100, R – none?).
5. What is the setting for Epson premium semi gloss in media source 
and curves?

I apologies for my ignorance and posting so basic questions, I am 
very grateful for any input.
