plate gap setup on QTRip

2014-01-20 by <m.ledro@...>

Hi, anybody can help me about QTR gui? (windows).

I have two questions:
First
My Epson R3000 needs to modify the platen gap as "large" for to print with paper like Ilford Gold Fibre Silk 310 gsm.
But I don't find where to make the choice.
Second
What are the correct parameters to put in to fields "Name" and "Printing Model" if I'm using K3 original Epson ink set?

thx in advance

Marco

Marco,

On the R3000 you adjust the platen gap through the printer menu screen. Begin by pressing the OK button then either Left Arrow or Right Arrow to the Setup Menu.

On QTR, you can name the curve anything you want but most folks use a combination of Printer-InkSet-Paper-Tone OR InkSet-Printer-Paper-Tone.

R3000-UCmk-UPPM5-Warm = R3000 Printer-InkSet (UltraChrome matte black) - Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Matte (UPPM) 5 Star - Warm Tone

If you are using the Photo Black = R3000-UCpk-UPPM5-Warm.

Hope this helps.

You do not have to mess with the buttons on the printer. It's an option
in the Printer Preferences screen. Also, if you are using that paper
all the time (or most) you can set it as default, then only narrow it
when necessary.

Seth,

Are you able to adjust Platen Gap through the preferences on QTRgui under Windows? Its been a few years since I switched to Mac OSX but under this OS you don't have those luxuries. Leading me to consider setting up a Windows box just for printing with QTR.

I had similar question recently and in the end adjusted it directly through the menu on the printer itself, which worked fine.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
