Hi

I have just received a packet of Epson Hot Press Natural and was surprised to find that it had a lot more texture than the Red River Aurora Natural I have been using.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Thanks

Michael

Yes this is normal. I have used both papers and find the Epson to be
excellent. The weight and richness of the blacks on the Epson makes a paper
of choice on final prints. I use the Aurora for testing.

Thanks,

Thanks Gary for that confirmation. Yes, I do have better blacks and more shadow detail too.

Cheers

Each paper has its place. The Epson HPN has deeper blacks while the RR AFA has a whiter base. HPN has more texture but not as much as CPN (cold press nat.). I recently found that printing an image that relies on a lot of darker to black tones, the HPN excells while the AFA looks weak. Conversely, when printing a winter image of a bush in snow, I couldn't get the HPN to deliver a print I was satisfied with (after having been enamored with it for the blacks), so I somewhat reluctantly ran a sheet of AFA through the printer and found exactly what I was looking for.
