Anyone using one of these? I'm somewhat concerned that Nikon has stopped listing the LS-5000 on its site & I use mine so hard. I'm astonished to see 7200 dpi for this scanner half the price of the Nikon's. So I wonder, can anyone share their experiences with it? Thanks. -Lew S [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Suffice it to say, despite advertising 7600 dpi optical resolution, you get much less, closer to 3300 dpi with the Plustek. By comparison, the Nikon scanners achieve ~3900 dpi. There is a positive report on the Luminous Landscape site and ColorFoto sees much improvement since the the 7200 model but I dare say that it is more the absence of competition than its own qualities that gives it that publicity. There must be a niche market for one 35mm scanner model that has the qualities of the last Nikon-Minolta models. The Nikon 9000 MF scanner is too expensive for that market, the Epson V700-V750 doesn't have the resolution for 35mm film. -- Met vriendelijke groeten, Ernst Try: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wide_Inkjet_Printers/ | Dinkla Grafische Techniek | | www.pigment-print.com | | ( unvollendet ) |

Bonnie, I have the Power Look lll which is very similar.. They were actually not bad scanners.. You'll need the optional lid for doing transparencies and negs with the light source in it. If you don't have that you can track one down on eBay.. They aren't as good as other options for scanning but for free maybe worth a go .. jimbo
