I am using QTR on Mac OSX with UT7 inks. I created my own Cool and Sepia curves for HPR and mix them 50-50 for a Neutral Print. I am very happy with the results and have produced a couple hundred prints this way for customers since August. I have been using UC inks in a 2200 with QTR during the same period. The 2200/UC combo is nice and indeed neutral with no meteramism, but much more visible dithering. The UT7 inkset is very nice, but still has some barely visible dithering near the 10-20% tones. Overall I was more impressed with the original UT inkset I experimented with in the spring since it provided 4 neutral inks to partition the Grey rather than the 3 greys of the UT7 inks. I have been considering going back to using Piezotone inks in the 7600. Museum or Portfolio Black with both the Carbon Sepia and Selenium set. I am just unsure that a mix of the two would yield a nice neutral and I don't want to mess up a system that finally seems to be working well. The process of creating your own curves for QTR is not exactly simple, but it isn't brain surgery either. The documentation is accurate, but easy to misinterpret. Trust me, read it all through several times and ask lots of questions on-line before proceeding and wasting a lot of time and materials. Good luck.
