Subject: CS50 go-through update

From: "velomatte" <velomatte@...>

All,

So after re-capping and re-CMOS-ing the power supply, SH and replacing the SUB board I was able to tune the CS50. All the octaves are in tune! I borrowed an o'scope and have to get to it on the other calibrations because:

1 voice is louder than others upon pressing a key -maybe short attack for that card?
1 voice trails off longer than the others -maybe long release for that card?
there is a C#-ish ping upon start up that goes away
there is occasionally a hum in the background like when a string divide-down keyboard has a bad capacitor for a single note
very few of the presets sound anything like I remember them sounding when I had my last CS50. Some make no sound at all.

Question: should I replace all the green small value capacitors? If so does anyone have a brand or type they recommend? I was going to get some from my local electronics shop but they looked nothing like the ones they would replace.

Anyone have recommendations of what to look for for the above problems?

Onward!
