Subject: Re: [yamahacs80] CS 80 Ribbon controller

I completely second this, Damon.
The procedure is the same as the one I applied successfully.
I add some more caveats:
1) You'll need help, at least 6 hands in total: two for keeping the plastic case slightly open while other two hands position the metal clips, applying a certain tension to the spring. The other two hands? in praying position :-)
2) Due to the spring larger diameter than the inner room of the case, the coils will be (at least in my machine) angled, they'll look oblique through the case slot.
3) One more suggestion: you have to glue the velvet very taut if you eventually want to press the whole into place in the correct position; if not, it will not reach the final settling and you will have to unglue / break the delicate velvet and redo the procedure
4) Be careful not to overheat the terminal on the case when soldering the wires. The case would melt and that is the rarest part of the ribbon controller...
The CS60 which I worked on exhibits a perfect function, after this.
Hope this helps
Good luck!

Fernando
