My very personal opinion: there CAN'T be a reissue (oh, and I was ironic in my previous message ;-) )
The Combo Synthesizer 80 is something we love but our love bases itself on more than the machine as individually taken; that is ,its sonic power could be regarded as basic nowadays, where every free softsynth has a mod matrix of its own, otoh the C.S. can overkill the actual hardware in terms of usability, no wonder why, everybody knows it there.
We love what it meant for the past music industry and we all love what it sounded like on records at the time, so we fell in love with the machine and our love still goes on unchanged, we sit before it with a feeling of respect as we start to play , then we melt with it when we start to rock it, and it is an organic process!
So the CS80 earned a kind of an aura or a halo which makes it not just a heavy piece of furniture...
To me , what I loved too, was the ∗concept∗,behind the machine ,poly synthesis and polyphonic control, and it was well before the commendable Tom Oberheim and Dave Rossum put their ideas together to bring a poly-synth to America and the rest of the world: starting as a legacy of the GX1, the CS80 developed more but still haunts me the bravery of doing such things for the very first time: Somebody dismissed the CS80 as "delirious" because of not logic choices; well I couldn't subscribe that, because other synthesizer like Prophets or the Synthex belonged to the following generation, where the technology was already lied down.
It was a technologic milestone at the times, now it could be a very well respected product if new but with no market other than nostalgia fanatics (not enough to sell) and partly loosing its halo as the big step forward it was.
My 0,02 Euros
;-)

Look up Stephan Schmidt's synthesizer. It's not a CS-80, but for a polyphonic analog keyboard, it looks and sounds sexy. Too bad it's a one-off.
It's nice to dream, but I don't think Yamaha will reissue a CS-80. I'd love it if they did.
