After closely inspecting a broken pot, I found an easy way to open them up if you ever need to get in there. There is a silver tab that is part of the metal cover that locks through the side - just stick a flathead screwdriver in there and push the tab out while pulling up on the metal cover.

The pictures of the internals are in the Photos section under B-10K 4 and B-10K 3. There is an open trace on the B-10K 4 if you are curious.
