Subject: Re: My own CS-80 (was CS-80 voice PROBLEM : THE END)

Hehe... that's a 0.22 cap on my schematic!
Maybe that's another for David and the list of schematic inacuracies?
Cheers,
TOM

To make a long story short, if you don't know how to use at least a DVM and a soldering iron, ... give up or become a good friend of a skilled tech.

I removed an (apparently) innocent and sound green, rectangular cap 0.001, between two pins of the 151 and: M21 is back again! I resoldered it and now it is ok. I ask you what the reason could be why such a negative tension on the pin 8... can a faulty contact determine such a problem?

Last but not least, here in Italy: thank you Tommy (selling your CS to me you gave me a unique opportunity of enjoying one of the best machines ever...) and Max (for sharing the nights chatting on the pc about the sick CS...)

I think it's just the luck of the draw - personally I don't think these custom chips are ∗that∗ solid, that's why I bought my CS70M - it has 12 VCO chips inside plus a few others... VCA, Filter etc... unfortunately it don't have the 152 VCF-EG chips...;c(

Sometimes-it happens also with super modern hi-tech devices of today- it could have simply be born under a bad star...it sometimes happens :-(

Many years ago I had a tantalum on one of the TSB boards go short (blowing a fuse every time a certain Bb key was hit... a real bugger to trace that was!)... and currently in one of my 80's I think I have a couple of VCO chips that don't scale perfectly during the tuning procedure. They work and play OK but are also probably on their way out...!?! Oh, and one preset bulb needed replacing...;c)
