Subject: CMOS SUCCESS!!! SORT OF!!!! BUT MOSTLY

From: rj krohn <r_j_d_2.phila@...>

hey folks, sorry the blabby message, but im excited.i just completed a full resto of all 5 lower boards of my cs80. all new sockets with decoupling caps, cmos chips, and elec. caps were replaced.

ALL 8 VOICES +AFTERTOUCH WORKS!! considering that a) i was already worried about bringing on a new problem, and b) i had a TKC scare from a bad-new-make 4019 chip that disabled the entire board.

whew.

however, the original problem i was hoping to fix has shrunk, but still exists. now, 2 of the 18 or so preset exhibit the sustain pedal behavior(depression of pedal triggers a voice, regardless of keyboard action). it was previously an issue on EVERY preset.

if anyone has an idea on this, i'd love to hear it. im guessing another component of the KAS board may be bad, but its just a guess. it is always the same voice, it does not rotate through.

but for now, good enough. best of luck to those intending to do this job- for those about to swap, I SA--LUTE YOU.
