I understand your point, but still I´d be very reluctant about selling something without a pressing need. I had to sell some stuff in the past which I really, really regret now but life forced me to do so... after all, owning an RMI KC-2 Keyboard Computer or a rare PPG 1020 is one thing, paying the rent is another. This is one of those unavoidable things... the only choice is owning rare keyboards, or being homeless instead. What does matter more to you?
I would, by today´s standards, not sell anything unless it a) is just occupying dead space, b) tends to be prone to disaster (and you´re not willing to spend a year´s income on getting stuff fixed), c) can easily be replaced (a TR-808... well, it would hurt, but a Linn LM-1... no way!), or d) you just don´t like having it around as a musical instrument. If that´s the case, sell it and replace it with something you might enjoy more. If there´s no urge to sell something... think it over! I for one would never part with my CS80, I´d rather give it to a friend if I found myself in bad circumstances, just to make sure it doesn´t get harmed (same thing goes for my Mini Moog, ARP 2600, PPG 360). I´d rather have it fixed anytime it breaks... after all, owning something is not only the mere process of actually ∗having∗ it, you´re also responsible for what you´ve got.
Just my two cents. Ah, and don´t forget... when you sell a CS80, your back will ache again. Which might be a lot worse than just your heart... :-)

I was just thinking about all of the stuff I've sold over the years,
because I responded to Tom's post that I might regret selling the
CS80. He has a point, and you can bet that I won't sell it without

Rhodes Stage 73 (don't remember why--bought another to replace it.)
Hohner Clavinet D6 (lost to a pawn shop, oh, the humanity. Miss it to
this day.)
Moog Source (nice synth, but I have my minimoog.)
Moog Micromoog (was dead after 20 years in storage. Still went for
$510 on eBay.)
Moog Memorymoog (early version--pain in the ass, and unreliable. only
regret is that today I'd get much more.)
Oberheim Xpander (can't remember why I sold it. Just wasn'tusing it
that much, but what a great synth. It's the one I miss.)
Yamaha CS01 (I don't remember if I sold it or lost it, but it made
some funky sounds for a little bitty thing. Used it on some
recordings.)
Yamaha DX7 (got my money's worth from it--don't intend to use it
again.)
Yamaha TX816 (a truly powerful beast; I do miss it a bit, but not
enough for serious regrets. Got some killer bass sounds using three of
the modules in tandem.)
Emu Emulator I (got it in 1981 and used it for all it was worth. got
burned out on sampling, and still am after all of this time.
manipulating samples is like trying to make a puppet made out of dead
meat look alive.)
Linn LM1 (great drum machine, a classic. It's in good hands now, fully
restored, but I had no use for it, I got my money's worth.)
How about you guys? Now that vintage synths are going for crazy
amounts, what did you sell thatyou regret? Or don't regret? I still
covet an ARP 2600, but the last one on eBay went for $10,000+. no no
no.
