You have to unsolder the old part, which is best done by someone who
knows how, unless you are good at circuit board re-work. Once this is
done, I recommend a good 18-pin IC socket, such as a machined-pin (aka
turned-pin) type with gold contacts. About 55 cents for one.
New RAM chips (and the IC socket) are sold by www.jameco.com. The
Jamceo stock number for the RAM chip is #43238 and price for one is $4.
The IC socket is #65584.
