if you put the battery in the wrong direction, you can cause damages. i
replaced it simply by another Ni/Ca recharchable Cell. but if some of the
controls isnt work, you surelly have a damage on IC31 or IC30 (both are the
same). but maybe they are also good. hard to say. please check if all traces
are okay, if not you have to replace these traces with wires. i did this
some months ago and all is working fine now. the right direction for the
cell is of the minus pole is in direction to the effects board. but if this
polysix had a battery leakage, you surelly lost some connections on the
underlying traces. (nearly all of my traces are damaged)
if IC31 is damage you'll see it if the patch selection wont work (button
press, but the led's are not switching, or some other strange effects
related to the led)
i'm no polysix expert, but these are my experience with my damaged polysix
