Thank you for the leads to follow, gentlemen. I'll probably get to
it tonight. I was working on a Juno 106 concurrently and finished it
last night (dead chip replacement). That project, along with having
to re-do the Polysix, brings me to a simple question:

I'm not bad at soldering and I can ∗remove∗ solder enough on
components with a few leads into a board sp it can be reused, however
I find it difficult to ∗safely∗ remove a many-legged IC where it can
be reused again. I would want to be able to do that going into this
next round with the KLM367.

Would anyone give me some pointers on how to successfully remove an
IC so it can be used again (ICs that are soldered directly onto the
board and not in sockets)?

Here are the tools I'm using: 30 watt iron, 15 watt iron,
desoldering bulb, solder wick, automatic desoldering tool (the kind
you press a button to release). Obviously I have various pokers,
probes, pliers and cutters. I also have an old PC motherboard I can
experiment with ahead of time.
