I don't mean to insult you, but if you're new to scopes then you might not be aware that many have adjustable attenuation controls on X/Y inputs, via either or both an analogue control or a multi-position switch. It would be worth checking the scope's user manual for more information if you haven't already done so. Then again, maybe it is just poorly calibrated :)

i could hazard a guess at the voltages but channels 1 and 2 on my scope dont agree at all and also dont agree with my dmm when measuring a AA battery... (throws hands up)
