I concur that the battery has already leaked.   You can see a number of discolored vias,
along with corrosion on the diode and resistor in the photo.    (But my board was much worse.)
You should remove the battery ASAP.

Troubleshooting a processor-based synth without an oscilloscope is very time-consuming,
since you can't see what you need to see.  And you will need good soldering skills to avoid
lifting traces/damaging the ICs if you try to remove them.   The preferred way to remove an IC
without damaging the board is to cut all of the leads first, then take them out one at a time.   Taking
off a chip that you want to save is a lot harder.

Maybe if you upload some decent photos of the unit we can have a little auction right here...
(I guess you would have to put them somewhere else and provide a link)

Where is the synth located?

Bob

just got a rather bad shape poly 6 for $100.

1.  powers up.
2.  some keys sound.
3.  battery has not rotted.
4.  makes one sound and no pots work.
5.  all switches work/light up.

Insides look great, rear is SMASHED but intact.
Volume pot is shot, (need to press down on it to make it work)

Questions:

FACT:  I am unskilled at soldering past a high school level.

My thought was to order a factory battery because I cant jumper diodes and voltages on the charging mod on the coin slot lithium battery mod.

My thoughts were to attempt fixezs on the basic level.

If I cant get it working perfect then start desoldering the chips and sell them after I test they work.
