ps basic level? basic level is that the machine works...nobody will buy a half working P6 which has already been messed with by an unskilled person....

and desoldering the chips without damaging them or the board is near to impossible...just cut out the cmos one desolder pin for pin without damaging the board any further....but you said you are NOT skilled...well i am and these machines are a pain i n the ass if you dont know what you are doing....wish i had picked that one up

Contrary to what you say the battery clearly has already leaked, just not
as bad as with many other cases.
The greenish residue around the vias and IC31 legs is a clear sign, so are
the dark spots on the large trace near the battery.

You should remove the battery at once and give the board a thorough
cleaning. Perhaps the board still can be saved.
