Subject: Re: [PolySix] Volume fluctuations correlated to the filter resonance

A couple things:

First-Hand to me means "brand new".  Second-Hand would be used.

I've never seen or heard likely evidence that ∗any∗ Poly6 has an original battery in it that has not leaked at this point.

I'm guessing that the original battery was replaced with the same brand of rechargeable battery and that the original leaked and has done damage.  I'm guessing that when the repair was done, they couldn't find what was causing the problem, so the last owner sold it.

Try this:
Activate arpeggio (light on) with latch switch on, one octave.  Press the same note 6 times in a row.  Set VCA Mode switch down (not EG), Waveform fully counter-clockwise, everything MG fully counter-clockwise. Let this run for a while (30-60 minutes).  Does the volume vary?

Out of curiosity, what MIDI retrofit does it have in it?

Hi all!

First I'll give further explanation of the problem:

If the cutoff is completely open and the resonance turned all the way down, everything sounds as it should. With the resonance turned up I sometimes have irregular volume fluctuations occuring. They dont occur right away, sometimes everything works fine for 10-30 minutes until the volume drops out.

Also these fluctuations are not always the same.

In most cases I am triggering my Polysix via Midi from Ableton and Ive noticed two different scenarios:

1. The volume varies pretty fast, for example if I have a loop with 4 notes running, none of them will have the same level.

2. The volume decreases, then stays at this low level for some time and then increases back to the normal level.

I sent the Polysix to a synth repair service here in Germany, and this week the guy told me he couldnt detect anything and will sen! d it back to me.

The P6 was purchased first-hand, about 2 years ago. I dont know if it ever was calibrated, at least the original battery is still in there, and no, it's not leaking ;)

It is my first vintage synth, so I have absolutely no experience. Is it possible that a proper calibration could fix this problem or is it more likely a damaged chip/circuit board/jack or whatever?

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks,

Tilman
