Subject: Volume fluctuations correlated to the filter resonance

From: num_si@yahoo.com

Hi all!

First I'll give further explanation of the problem:

If the cutoff is completely open and the resonance turned all the way down, everything sounds as it should. With the resonance turned up I sometimes have irregular volume fluctuations occuring. They dont occur right away, sometimes everything works fine for 10-30 minutes until the volume drops out.

Also these fluctuations are not always the same.

In most cases I am triggering my Polysix via Midi from Ableton and Ive noticed two different scenarios:

1. The volume varies pretty fast, for example if I have a loop with 4 notes running, none of them will have the same level.

2. The volume decreases, then stays at this low level for some time and then increases back to the normal level.

I sent the Polysix to a synth repair service here in Germany, and this week the guy told me he couldnt detect anything and will send it back to me.

The P6 was purchased first-hand, about 2 years ago. I dont know if it ever was calibrated, at least the original battery is still in there, and no, it's not leaking ;)

It is my first vintage synth, so I have absolutely no experience. Is it possible that a proper calibration could fix this problem or is it more likely a damaged chip/circuit board/jack or whatever?

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks,

Tilman
