Subject: RE: RE: [PolySix] RE: Korg Polysix MIDI retrofit & sys-ex protocol

I don't have the schematics, etc. for the official Korg polysix MIDI retrofit unfortunately. The service tech who installed the kit (in the mid 80's) kept them, and then closed down his business over 10 years ago. I haven't spoken with him in many years to see whether he kept all the documentation he had accumulated. I don't think Korg USA could provide them either as it's been so long ago...(maybe it's an obvious question but) did you try to contact Korg?

Seconded!

I need to work on my factory retrofitted P6 too, and the MIDI Retrofit installation / service notes would be fantastic.

I have searched online but found nothing yet.

Anyone able to help me and Moogchild ?

Purlease :)

Thank you for your pics and the user manual, they have been very useful to me. I have one board of the 1986 Korg USA P6 Midi Retrofit, but with no instructions at all about how to install it. Do you have a copy of the installation procedure?. Best regards.

Hi I posted a scan of the MIDI retrofit manual in the Files section. I have a few questions for this group.
Is there anyone else out there who has this retrofit?
Do any of the other Polysix retrofits support the same sys-ex protocol (messages)?

I have been developing an editor using Cycling74 MAX. It also allows for iPad control via their Mira 'extension' (for the Polysix, or any other synth that one can build an editor for, or just about anything MIDI). I am curious how much interest there is for iPad control of the Polysix and/or an editor/librarian.
I have the bitmapping and sys-ex all worked out and can edit and update the P6 with single parameters, single patches or bulk dumps of 120 patches. I also have converted and mapped (sysex to CC) the Polysix's parameter values to control the Polysix plug-in, and well - the resultant sounds do not even come close between the real thing and the plug-in, with the exact same settings. Or after they are tweaked. (but I still like the soft P6...marketing aside)

I don't know if I will release any apps for public consumption, but maybe there's some interest? I currently only use MacOS as I don't use Windows, but MAX supports PC's too. thanks, -Brian
