I repaired a P6 with a similar problem once (some patches working and
others not and you couldn't overwrite the not working ones) and it
turned out to be the memory chip. That particular chip seems to be very
delicate and I have replaced a few of them over the years. Vintage
planet has spares and I may have a couple in my parts bin if you are
stuck finding one.
