Well, sadly the Polysix hasn't been fully operational since the day I
bought it. It's has undergone a second repair for battery damage, and I am
now in the process of working out some bugs from the installation of
Johannes PolysixM MIDI kit. The kit was built by the very friendly and
talented Andrew Jury who's around this list a lot . . . then installed by
my tech here in Winnipeg. It's doing some odd stuff so we're
trouble-shooting. I'm hoping that within a couple weeks I'll actually be
able to start enjoying this thing! I think I've owned it for a year
already. I've stared at it a lot, but haven't played it!
The Jupiter 6 is an acquired flavour. At first I thought that I really
didn't like it. It has taken some time to get a handle of finding its sweet
spots. I very helpful member of the Vintage Synth forum told me he'd gone
through the same process with his JP6 and was actually kind enough to send
me some of his custom patches. That opened the door for me to keep
exploring the JP6 with a specific direction and I haven't looked back
since. Now it's like a good friend that took a long time to get to know. It
wasn't love at first sight . . . but now that I'm familiar with its
inner-character I wouldn't let it go.
Most recently I've been writing/recording mostly with a Korg Lambda, Kawai
SX-240 and Sequential MultiTrak. These three were love at first sight
(listen). And my newest additions are an Akai AX80 (really liking it so
far) and an MKS-70 that's so new to me I haven't yet played with it.
Hopefully by next week I'll be able to add my Polysix to this list.
