Subject: Question about dead polysix

I have a polysix that I got broken (battery leak) and I have been trying to fix. The board I had was pretty chewed up from the battery, worse than I had seen with others. I tried to fix that to no avail. Eventually I found the polysix clone board that I got and put the parts in, replacing parts I could. I went through the service manual but I cannot get mine to do what it should. It
never worked correctly and works now the same as it did before I replaced the board and I am starting to feel like the processor chip may be bad. Here is what happens:
When I put it on Manual, Test mode and turn Tape Enable on and off I get #4 and #8 lit up no matter what I do
When I hit the reset point on the reset trimmer all lights that should light up
No controls work except buttons on the right, arpeggiator, chorus switch only and attenuation switch, tune knob, volume knob, benders -- none of the other knobs work.
Does anyone have any advice about how I might debug this problem??
