small world..!
If I switch to up/down and full range, then press and hold down middle C, the synth just plays the note without arpeggiating it...
Thanks again for your help!

Hello,
So the arp led does light up. If you switch to up/down and full range, then press and hold down middle C what happens? Silence? if you have a look around the forum you should be able to find the user guide for the P6. Have a read up on the arp section and see what results you get. If you can't find it I will mail you a copy. If you are really stuck drop me a private mail and I might be able to help. I am in suffolk!
Cheers,
Andy

Hi again, Andy,
All the patch bank switches work well, yes, and the orange switch works as well. Could it be that I am making a mistake in using the synth ?? Although it would make me ashamed, it would be good news !
By the way, I live in London, UK...
Sophie

Hi Sophie,
It is a bit unfair really. When people say 'fully serviced' they should mean
'fully working'. It's a bit like having your car fixed and finding the
brakes don't work on the journey home from the garage! Did you manage to see
if the arpeggiator circuit would come on by fiddling about with the orange
switch? Chances are if all the patch bank switches work well then this
probably isn't the problem.
In terms of getting it looked at there are plenty of contributors to this
group who would gladly take a look at it for you. Where in the world do you
live?
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy, and thank you so much for your swift and comprehensive answer.
The ebay seller told me that the machine had been fully serviced but from
what you wrote it seems the problem is of "electronic repair territory"..
which is unfortunate for me as I have no technical skills.
What would be the best way to proceed, according to you ?
Anyway, thanks again for your kind explanation
Sophie

Sophie,
As I am sure the other members will agree this is probably the right place
to be asking this sort of question! So your arp doesn't work, but the
frequency LED flashes on and off faster and faster as you rotate the know to
the right? The big question is, does the LED illuminate when you press the
orange button? If not then it might just be as simple as a poor contact in
the switch. The top panel switches on the P6 are prone to deterioration over
time so a good, hard (but not over forceful) press down with a wiggling
action might start the circuit running. If the LED comes on but the arp will
not latch when you press a key then you are probably into electronic repair
territory. It sound like the 555 timer is running, but the bus signals might
be missing which are fed from the key assigner. You might want to check the
mass of coloured wires which are soldered directly to the underside of the
top panel board, as they are prone to breaking off.
If you are not of a technical disposition I am sure there are plenty of
people (including myself) who would be more than happy to take a look at the
P6 for you. Bear in mind that this keyboard model is coming up for 30 years
old in some cases, so a full service might be required if the thing comes
from unknown sources (i.e. eBay).
Let us know how you get on!
Thanks,
Andy

Subject: [PolySix] Arpeggiator
Hello polysix lovers!
I'm a newbie, so forgive me if I don't use this discussion group properly at
first.
I made a search in the past messages and couldn't find anything related to
my problem, but I might proove wrong.
I have bought a polysix on ebay and it sounds great!
I can't get the arpeggiator to work, though, even though the LED is blinking
according to the arpeggiation speed.
Any clue, anyone ?
In advance, many thanks for reading this !
Sophie
