Subject: Has anyone actually successfully fixed a Siel DK-600?

I was excited to find one in a small shop for $50, thinking the
"obscure fuse" was the main reason behind the low price (and the fact
that the shop owner was focused on guitar repair). The only thing the
shop owner knew about the DK-600 is that the battery often leaks and
destroys all
the internal goodness. He said it hadn't leaked, but I knew that I
should replace it soon anyway. I didn't expect it to be perfect when I
put in a fuse, but at least it turned on. There was no sound output,
but when looking for the battery, I saw the ribbon cable connecting
the keyboard PCB to the display PCB was unplugged. That solved the
problem.....for about a day or two.
Now, I am unable to use the keypad at all to select different patches.
The display still lights up, but when I try to edit the first patch
that loads on startup, only the pots will work, NO PUSH BUTTONS
anywhere on the entire panel. This
change didn't happen all at once; it went from being able to use
everything, to only being able to press certain number keys to get
certain patches, to only editing the first patch, to editing the
first patch until it "stopped letting me" make any more changes, to
where I am now.
What exactly am I dealing with? I have soldering experience and a
multimeter, but I'm trying to figure out how severe this could be. The
first thing I am planning on doing is replacing the backup battery,
even though I am sure it is more of a power or chip issue. Any ideas?
