Subject: 80s synth recommendation?

From: "campbobo" <sauraman@...>

Hey all,

Well, I'm certainly glad to be a member of this group--especially
after slogging through all the spam plaguing 'oldsynth'!

Anyway, here's my story.. I'm currently playing synth (keytar) in an
80s cover band. Right now I am using an Emu Vintage Keys (the old
one) and a Yamaha TX7 (basically a DX7 in a module). Right now I
have a 1U slot left in my rack that I am considering filling with
another sound module. Any suggestions on what I should pick?

We do a lot of new wave 80s stuff--and I am considering putting
something analog (or hybrid analog in there). Maybe an Oberheim
Matrix 1000 or a Roland MKS-50. Any other recommendations? A friend
told me his Matrix 1000 sounded too thin in a mix--I tried one in
headphones and really liked the sound. I love my TX7 (it sounds
great!) so I am leaning towards older gear.. Still, there are some
newer pieces of equipment that might be good as well--like an Alesis
QSR with a Vintage Synth card perhaps..

Any recommendations?

Thanks!
