Here is part of an email from his son Jimmy jr. This helped to quell my anxiety a bit. There is more but this all I am comfortable letting out. I think he will appreciate your good wishes. One thing though, if you are going to visit in person, call ahead before you go. They are serious about doing his rehab properly and they want him to worry about himself for a a while, for a change.
Hi Gino,
Thank you very much for your support. My dad had a stroke about two weeks ago, and has been recovering in various hospitals. He was incredibly lucky, though, and the only lasting effects have been some problems with balance and finding the right words in conversation. We're all looking at this as his second chance.
I don't want you to worry about him, though - he's lost none of his personality or charm. He's been joking with the nurses the entire time and even asked the doctor if he could use the cane he was given as a tripod on stage if he stuck the other end up his ass. Same old Jimmy!

It's maybe my favourite Satie tune. It seems to wander effortlessly through keys without any real attention to convention.
