It's shite.

Close to the Edge has its moments but they are few and farbetween. As for Tales I tried on the insistence of a friend(who was more likely a twat) to get into that album by playing it inthe dark, while working, while doing nothing, while bathing, cooking, hoovering whatever. I must have played it through about eight or ninetimes. It truly is music with no redeeming features, not unlikeWorks or Humphrey Bogart's characters in Angels With DirtyFaces. If anyone can really point me out to any part of it thatdoesn't sound like animals in an abattoir then please do so.

Topographic Oceans is a masterpiece, in my opinion.
It's something (like water) to immerse yourself in (pardon thepun).

Sorry but it can'thelp to be introduced to the piece so manyyears after it's release.
Times and tastes have changed, but Close to the Edge and Talesare still fresh to my ears and many live experiences with both albumsrefreshes the feelings everytime.

My 2 cents worth,

Caffeine willnot help in the attempt to enjoy Topographic Oceans. It will onlyfrustrate you. Try the opposite end of the narcotic spectrum-barbiturates.

It doesn't matter if we are talking about themusic, album cover art, lyrics or mullets. I can say that the Tarkusalbum cover art was complete crap. Someone else can say it was the bestalbum cover ever. It would be awfully boring if everyone agreed oneverything.

Speaking of boring... Topographic Oceans - I've tried many times to getinto that album. I will try again, after a few Red Bulls.
