Season's Greetings Tom and Fellow Mellotronists,
Your M400 #390 has an SMS2 card within it. "Servo Motor System" .
Unmodified M400's were fitted with the CMC10 . "Capstan Motor Control."
SFX and M300 models and a few of the first M400's had the CMC4 within.
The SMS series is simply the best, the CMC-10 simply the worst (wurst, "porkers").
And the CMC4 falls in-between.
For those here who haven't seen the first-generation pitch contol,
it was the VFO. To put it succintly, about 30 lb. of electronic bits needed to
control a 4-5 lb AC motor .
Cheers, -- JK --
