Mellotron blues...

Ah yes..  I haven't heard a decent tune that uses a Mellotron in years...

Yea...  the occasional Dunkin' Donut commercial... or some dumb-ass car commercial...   But, please....  Give me a break...

Subject: [newmellotrongroup] Mellotron Blues

I have been playing #1565 every day for the last few weeks, sometimes solo sometimes playing along to CDs. I think it's in tune, either that or it's semi tone or tone out and I am playing in another key as I can usually work out a basic accompniament ( how do you spell that?) to most pop and blues tracks. It's amazing how often I, IV, V and the odd VI will do the trick. Anyway I have a lot of blues tracks on the ipod, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf etc, and rather surprisingly a staccato 8 choir backing sounds really good with the blues.

Does anybody else play the blues on the mellotron and what voices do you use?

There is a lot of work to do on my mellotron and sadly it's going to be out of action for a few weeks as I attempt to fix the keyboard. So it's back to M-tron for a while, nothing like as much fun!

Mark

PS How do you know when your mellotron is fixed?

Answer: You put the cheek blocks back in.
