Hi Vance,
Thanks for the heads up!I have already made the new group: https://groups.io/g/mellotron. I can run a migration to groups.io if nobody objects.BenOn 17 Oct 2019, at 01:30, Vance Pomeroy vance@juniperpacific.com [newmellotrongroup] <newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

News from Yahoo and other sources is that all Yahoo Groups contents will be completely erased from their servers by December 14:https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/16/20917710/yahoo-groups-deleting-all-content-upload-message-boards-email-communities
Not only will the essential functionality of the groups be gone for present and future use (including adding new members) starting this coming Monday, but all the files, photos, previous postings, history, etc. will be wiped away in less than 2 months.
I know that the mellotron group is very, very quiet these days, but I do recommend that we not lose some of the information that is stored on Yahoo's servers.
Please note that the alternative 'groups' site, https://groups.io/ , has a migration function for shifting the mellotron list from Yahoo over to their platform. (Also note that the groups on Groups.io to which I belong are now more active because the site and platform is easier to use...)
Thanks!!
Vance
PS - Read the groups.io origin story.... https://wingedpig.com/2014/09/23/introducing-groups-io/Hi Vance,Your message came through, and also in the Yahoo Group. It’s probably Yahoo’s servers acting up if you didn’t see it earlier. I see the same problem in another group I moderate. Thanks for the link to groups.io. I’ll have a look at it, sounds interesting!BenOn 26 May 2018, at 00:02, Vance Pomeroy vance@juniperpacific.com [newmellotrongroup] <newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com> wrote:Bruce and Ben -
I've been a long-time 'tron list member going back to the
pre-Yahoo,'best-lists' days.
When we shifted to Yahoo (16 years ago?), it was a solid choice for
email groups/lists. However, it's gotten more and more awful through the
years - (not to mention it's data breach central).
Now it's a probably-soon-to-be-abandoned train-wreck.
As a number of other groups our household belongs to are looking to
move, they have found https://groups.io/
I'm suggesting we look into changing like we've done (twice) before..
If you're skeptical, read the founder of groups.io (the originator of
the company that became Yahoo Groups) --
