In the time of Uriah heep I would say that prog was nebulous and undefined. I'm not even sure I would agree with todays definition of prog. Certain elements came from different places. There were ballads by the band Mountain that seem as much or more prog to me as Dream Theater or Porcupine tree. I think I liked the genre better when it was less defined....

Hi all-
  The picture of Uriah Heep's "Demons and Wizards" brought back memories.  I listened to it recently.  The only progressive thing on the album was the cover, a wonderful erotic Roger Dean painting.  Okay, there were songs about a demon and a wizard (who got drunk with the songwriter).  But there were no 'trons or synths, just some innovative organ playing.  Ya just gotta have 'trons and synths to be prog.  Cracked's knowledge of prog is cracked.
  Still, I liked the album.  Solid rock.  Silly teen memories.
