Subject: OT - Apple not so clever?

I wanted to import all of the video and photos from a Sony HD camcorder to a Macbook Pro. I didn't realize that I had 230 gb on the camera and 220 gb free space on the Macbook. Mountain Lion and iPhoto allowed the import to start and run for several hours until the storage was FULL. iPhoto stopped responding and the os locked-up. I was quite surprised that the Apple s/w let me get into such a mess.
