Am just now listening to the 2009 remix of "In The Court...," mixed from the original master tracks, even before the requisite pre-mixes necessary then on 8-track recordings. It's gorgeous, but now I have to compare w the vinyl, 'cause it's incredibly "clean." This is part of a set (K.C. 40th Anniv. Series) (say it isn't SO!!!) I got on Amazon, about $20. It also includes add'l tracks w alt mixes of "I Talk To The wind," & ONLY the instr. tracks of "Epitaph" (whew!), then even the "Wind" session for the SFX opening of the album & "21st Cent Schitz Man." There's even a 2nd DVD w video of their Hyde Park concert of 6-5-69, playing "21st C.S.M." Haven't watched that yet. Fun stuff, and the Mellotrons, of course, are breathtaking!
Just to let you know, too, that I've basically rebuilt my studio from the ground up, updating about everything, and part of that will be to get my beloved M-400 #1485 back up in running order w a new motor. Been a LONG time since she's run, and I'm very fired up! Any suggestions on how to clean dusty tapes? Would they survive an actual gentle wash & rinse in the bathtub as I've heard suggested somewhere? Should I use conditioner, too, or styling gel? HA!
