Hi all-
I just discovered that Mike D. has blessed the Mellotron sounds library samples with the Louise Davis 'Cello without vibrato.  What a weird sound!  It must have been a real pain to get it in tune.  The sample chords somehow sound like an accordion.

I don't have such problems unless I'm using the MkII solo cello. Most of the time it does my head in. Sometimes it sounds ok. Mostly not. Next time I retape this frame I'll definitely go for a newly-recorded cello sound.

I have 'relative pitch' days and 'hypercritical' days, depending on whether I've had to tune a Rhodes or some such thing. Especially the last octave or so. Hmm... PLINKY...

Love and Scones.

I'm sure that's it.  You start hearing one problem and then become over-attuned to everything else, and the fact that the Mellotron isn't exactly tuned doesn't help it a bit.  After a while you kind of settle down and the next thing it's all fine.  Weird beyond weird.

I had a friend - well, I say 'friend'...I really mean 'twat that I knew' - who had a hugely accurate sense of pitch and who had to give up on music simply because everything sounded like this to him.  I'd hate to have that sort of talent.

Psychoacoustic disturbance.  Sometimes everything seems suspect.  Even tuning a guitar becomes a problem and you start doubting yourself.  And then it all makes sense again!  Weird.
