Hi Jim,

You’re pretty much where you need to be then.
The only part that seems to be gone without question is the “sacred” on/off red cap!
The “chaps” at Streetly should cover the electrical, and mechanical needs.  www.mellotronics.com
I’m sure other members will offer up other ideas, but from my nearly 40 yrs. of owning my M400, they’ve covered me just fine.

Best,
Tony #510

Hey folks.

Jim Blair here. Been into Mellotrons for many years. Owned a few M400's, a 400SM, Chamberlin, Novatron Mk V, Optigans, etc. Probably played every Tron and Chamberlin model except a Mk 1. No stranger to the scene, but I've been out of the loop for a while.

I'm awaiting an M4000D from Markus, and am trying to "restore" an M400 from a bunch of spare parts that I've gathered over the years.

From being a part of vintage car restoration forums over the years, I've found that there are usually spare used parts to be bought and traded, if the community is willing. Does this network exist in the current Mellotron world? I have a good start on parts, some spares, but need many additional bits to bring another Mellotron into existence.

I will buy new parts when I can afford it, but this project is on a budget, so used is probably the realistic way to go, at least for the moment.

So, nice to meet you all, and I hope to chat soon.

Jim
