I know that they worked long and hard on capturing decent sounds so it is possible that a MK II, 300 etc. were used. There should be some information included about how it was done in the product.  I'm sure fresh tapes were used as well but then the question might become whether they made tapes from the original masters or the work masters or both.

It's almost indirectly analogous to whether Mellotrons of the past received tapes from Mellotronics (at "London pitch") or at the original Streetly pitch.

Yes, unless any of you specifically know better, Mike Pinder's Mellotrons were never sampled for that Pinder CD.
 
To my knowledge it's regular 400's and Pinder had little actual involvement other than as a yay / naysayer to the final edits.
