"And the tune they played was in us confide"
2 versions of nearly the same tune played on a mellotron and synthesizer.

In my opinion by the time you have reverbed the violins enough they don't articulate very well ( The M400 manual agrees with me there I think) and I find equalising the output a nightmare plus the range is so restricted. It isn't so bad if you just want to play a solo line or you want to play chords, it's doing both that I find frustrating.
It is a shame that the M4000 D ( and by the way what's happeing to that ?) didn't have a 5 octave touch sensitive keyboard with a complete string orchestra mapped across it, but I suppose you could easily do that with a sampler a midi keyboard and the mellotron CD for a lot less money.
Still I wouldn't part with my mellotron but if I want to do a bit of musical doodling I'm more likely to use a piano or a string synth.
