I put two labeled patch bays in one of the SKB cases when I gigged and put
all the mixer I/O through them. It was a breeze. I had separate technical
problems (not with MOTM), but I knew where all the patchcords were.
Also, I buy my cables from Wacky Kovacy, and I have him make the cables with
random colors and heatshrink colors (heatshrink same on each end of a given
cable though). I was at first going to color code cables based on length,
but I went this route because it makes patches ∗much∗ easier to trace.
Hosa also makes several lengths of molded patch cables in bright colors.
They're relatively inexpensive and would make great "gigging" cables,
especially because they don't weigh very much. You can hang them around your
neck without wearing out your shoulders (as I've done under 20 lbs. of
switchcraft hardware).
Have a blast!
David.
