It's been a while since I've built an MOTM kit, but finishing one today made me realize, again, just how well Paul's kits are designed. Those who've had to put up with me over the years know that I act as a shameless shill for Synthesis Technology. Still, I believe that you would have a hard time finding any electronics kit that offered this level of performance - performance far above any other analog synth - ∗and∗ was designed to be built by just about anyone with a soldering iron. The layout is nearly monkey proof!
I've built Heathkit equipment back in the early 70s heyday, lovely Elecraft transceivers for friends, little low-power radio kits, music gear from Paia, you name it. As an engineer for Caltech, I design and build (or design for others to build) all kinds of analog AF and RF gear. At home I design and build music and radio gear for my own evil ends (and for a few friends that really should seek help...). Nothing achieves this level of performance, ease of construction, and overall value.
Once again - way to go Paul!!!
Chub - now with TWO VC routers!
