I can't really answer all your questions, but I can say that the 480 is certainly an extraordinary filter. I use mine all the time, and am always pleased with it's sound. As for whether or not it's worth the wait - I'd think so, but I'm not you. I'm also waiting for a filter, a 410, and am willing to wait some more for it - it'll be worth it for me.

What if using this filter without vca at the end - will it be silent enough (for example the
