h3y all,
these are my thoughts about tweakin' the grid...
when i have a 3rd party pcb i am convertin' to the MOTM form factor
that will not fit the current grid: A. the top knob(s) and bottom
jacks(s) remain true to the grid. B. the space between the bottom
knob(s) and the top jack(s) remain true to the grid. from there, i
tweak the spacing between the knobs and the jacks to get the fit i
require.
2 examples:
for the oms-410 i wanted to incorporate more than was available on
the Stooge panel. for the oakley noise source i couldn't quite
justify the 2U panel. so, i combined them to create one 2U module.
on the left is the noise source. on the right is the oms-410. the
module contains 5 knobs, 1 switch, and 16 jacks.

while at first glance it appears to be an insane cluster of jacks.
in reality it only took a few minutes to get used to the layout. in
the end it was the most logical {for me} layout to save 2U for
somethin' more important. {like another 440}

2nd example. the cgs psycho lfo. i wanted one to have mutiple speed
controls. i was able to get 5 knobs and 2 jacks on one 1U panel.
the module itself, though very interesting to me, did not warrant the
2U panel it would require in strict adherence to the MOTM form.
although it contains 5 knobs on a 1U panel, i have never had a
problem
manipulating it...
anyway, that's my 2 cents.
