Archive of the former Yahoo!Groups mailing list: Korg Poly800/EX800 Users

Hi everyone....just picked up a poly 800 on a whim off ebay the other
day (a mark I, with battery issues of course). I already have an EX-
8000 which I love, and heard the Poly's had a similarily nice sound.
Unfortunately, they seem to lack some of the user controlability that
the DW/EX's have (like velocity envelope control and sysex editing).
I got pretty bored with it quick (like, in one day) so decided to
dive right in and added a battery and the Slayer mod. By bizarre
chance I happened to have all of the neccessary parts to do the mod,
so, figured I might as well.

All I can say is that this things TEARS now...ear piercing would be a
MILD compliment. I haven't thought of a practical use for it yet,
lol, but it definately holds it's own ground with my other synths in
terms of originality now. I can imagine this thing will get quite a
bit of use if I decide to write a hard acid album anytime soon
though, hehe.
