Subject: Re: [korgpolyex] MKI internal battery

Well, since the beginning, Korg has always had in its design, a backup battery
place / pads on its printed circuit board......I've owned several of each Model,
and ALL had a place for the small 3v lithium type, soldered-down battery...to
backup its parameter storage memory chip.......However, the factory failed to
install this battery on the earliest of the series......only the very old units have
none soldered in place......but there is the solder-pads for one, always.......So
its not surprising to hear from a few people of its absence.....Anyway, the
other batteries that make the unit portable have to power the entire unit, but
this little one only powers one memory chip , at all times.......Another difference
with the MKII, is the Firmware......the actual operating system program...which
finally supports MIDI in a much more refined way, and other development improvements
but not many.....hardly noticeable, really..........so check out the FILES section
of this GROUP and you will find more help there....
Cheers,
Dan
