Sounds like you might have sequencer follow mode enabled. Check 37 GL xx - Sequencer note follow mode
xx - 0=off, 1=keyboard, 2=keyboard and MIDI operation
When the sequencer is playing, it is possible to have the sequencer shift keys within a one octave
range to match the last note played on the keyboard (or received from MIDI). This feature only
-13-applies to notes played on the lowest octave of the keyboard. All notes played above the lowest
keyboard do not change the sequencer key.

Set GL 37 to zero and see if you get your lower octave back.

This is my Demo video......

Now that I watch it again.. I wish i did things a little different....Like use the sequencer....

The first half is kind of vanilla sounds, and the 2nd half is more extended parameters...... So, it pays off to watch all the way through the boring stuff at the beginning......... ughh...

By the way, just recently the lower octave stopped working my Poly-800.  I can trigger it (lower octave sounds) through another keyboard's midi, So I'm not totally distraught.

I also need help with the sequencer.  Honestly, I've never used it. I don't know how.
