It looks like you’ve got R1 and D1 cut out okay. The battery goes across the D1 pins. “FOUR” in your photo is where the positive (+) side of the battery gets connected. “THREE” is the ground where the negative (-) side of the battery should be connected. “TWO” is already connected to “FOUR” by the trace on the circuit board. “ONE” is not going to be used for anything. It comes from the 6 “C” cells which you aren’t going to use to power the memory anymore. I’m not sure what that black wire is already connected to “FOUR”. Did somebody have some other battery wired in there in the past? Normally you would use a red wire for the positive side.

Could you tell me exactly where i need to solder the positive and negative wires on my early poly according to the attached photo.
