Classic Korg, when the Internal Battery DIES...!!!...they jujst dont last more than
5 years, or so..... I doubt very much the machine is broken, just brain-dead  !!!!
So, I have to assume when the unit is plugged into the Wall Power, you get a
proper Display ....all the lights lit, and it seems to accept your commands....?
If so, then notice my programming chart attatchment, and set in some values
for something really simple, like just a single tone....no frills ! Like a Flute...
So now to trigger the thing via Midi....for that I would not rely on your Computer
program to do so....too many layers to foul things up, esp. since we are trying
to establish just the basics, NO FRILLs ( flashback to Dennis Miller saying
"ok !!???? binky !!??!?? )   :)

With a Midi-capable Keyboard that transmits on a known channel...or better yet
on ALL channels.....you can see if any progress is being made, as you attempt
to re-program the Korg into some kind of submission ! Eventually, if the Korg is
any good at all, you will have success in getting it to trigger off the keyboard
with some reasonable sound....
Anyway..........luck and skill run hand-in-hand with these little Beasties !!

Also reference my letter,....email #556 or there-a-bouts...for Battery Replacement
data........on the GROUP known as Korgpolyex
