Subject: Re: [korgpolyex] New HAWK code available...

I'm having a bit of trouble with the new code.

Using the same airwalled Windows XP, Midisport 2X2, MIDI-OX rig used to flash my H800MKII from the very beginning, I attempted to install Boot 1.98 (c8670cb1e57cc0de2c68f0848c03e533) this AM. Even got a "GOOD3" message at the end.

Then sent the other .syx files...

d2389565072e2b4da3ee492fc7010235  EEPROM0.SYX
a6a3ab81c48ca8acb93c6083dfeff54b  EEPROM1.SYX
fbf1edbedb8ac2a5a6af747461db0a2e  EEPROM2.SYX

each returned their GOODX messages.

Please advise, thanks.

Hello HAWK fans,

I have posted new firmware for the HAWK-800 on sourceforge. You can get it here hawk800 - Browse /Software/Version 2.58 at SourceForge.net Most of you already would have boot version 1.98 so you only need to download the three firmware syx files and reflash the software. If you are running a version of boot code lower than 1.98 then you will need to upgrade the boot code first. Remember that uploading the new firmware will wipe your sequencer data and global settings. So back them up first if you don't want to lose them.

The new software includes a couple of simple feature and bug fixes but it does have one major feature improvement - you can now start the LFO1 waveform in any of four different phase positions.

Parameter P2 18 allows selecting the starting phase position of LFO1. Valid values are 1-4 corresponding with phase starting positions of 0,90,180 and 270 degrees. This allows starting the LFO1 triangle, sawtooth and sine waves at those angles in their cycles. Adding this phase shifting means that you can start any of the waveforms going down, up, start mid way, at the low point or the high point of the waveforms.

Now thaty I have your attention with this great new feature (!!!), I would also like to talk about ongoing support for the HAWK project. This was an interesting exercise in discovering just how much time it takes to develop a relatively simple feature. All told it took about 10 hours to write the code, test it and get it working correctly as well as modifying the documentation, repackaging into the zip file and posting on sourceforge.

A customer donated $75 bucks for me to develop this feature. As you can imagine, $7.50/hr is not going to pay the bills. So any of you that might feel like donating to the ongoing HAWK project, please feel free to donate a little. Any small amount helps me to convince my wife and kids to keep wasting enormous amounts of time on a project that provides no profit to us whatsoever. Trust me, all of you and me are the only people in my extended HAWK family that get anything out of this project.

Feel free to click on the donate button!

Enjoy the new feature!

Mike
